We are at home today. My son loves to do the firework just as much as my husband. I used to like them when I was younger, but now as a mom I’m not so crazy about them at all. I just try to stay out of their way today and let them do their thing.

Yesterday, for our homeschooling (we just do very small planned things in the summer) I had my son read some firework safety information and first aid instructions for burns and eye injuries. He had to highlight the parts that were most applicable to what he does for 4th of July also. I’ve been telling him most of this stuff for a long time, but sometimes reading someone elses information makes it sink in better. Hubby is always out there with him also.

In the past for homeschool around this time we have covered various historical aspects of Independence Day and fireworks. Wikipedia is a good place to start if you want some basic information.

Also, the Boston Pops 4th of July show is always great. One of these days I think I would like to go in person to hear it. It will be broadcast on CBS tonight at 9:00 pm central.

Happy Independence Day!
