I’ve been watching some of these events on the Winter Olympics. When they should people close up and shivering I can’t help but thing how dry their skin must be from standing out there so long because that is what happens to me in the winter. My skin will get red and cracked, itchy, and just feel icky! From some of the pictures of the people on TV, including some of the athletes, Curel Itch Defense Skin Balancing Moisture Lotion for Dry Itchy SkinI think they are having the same problem. Drinking extra water in the winter (when I remember) does help some, but I think it’s beyond that because the air around us is so cold and dry and then add in the wind – it’s just not a recipe for good skin conditions.

Curel has a new lotion, Curel Itch Defense Skin Balancing Moisture Lotion for Dry Itchy Skin. Ok, long name, but what is important is if it actually works. I was sent a sample bottle and have been trying it out.

  • It does take the itch away! My forearms and shins (I don’t know why my shins) get the itchiest from dry skin this time of year. Other lotions can soothe a bit, but the new Curel Itch Defense did really seem to stop the itch!
  • It’s odorless! Now I love nice scented lotions too, but I don’t want everything I put on to have it’s own scent because they start conflicting. Hubby and Taylor also prefer unscented lotions and this one truly is.
  • It’s thick – in a good way. I like different viscosity for my different lotions. For something like this, something I would be using in the winter most often, I like the thicker feeling and that gentle feeling that is left on my skin that feels like a nice Curel Targeted Therapy Hand and Cuticle Creamprotector to the elements. It isn’t greasy at all though.

Curel Targeted Therapy Foot CreamI was also sent 2 of the Curel Targeted Therapy products. The first is a fast-absorbing hand & cuticle cream. This has a very light and pleasant scent. It really is fast absorbing and it does feel like it immediately softens the hands and cuticles. I’m hoping to discover the other benefit it claims which is helping to prevent broken nails (I hate when that happens). The other sample was the deep-penetrating foot cream. This one has a bit stronger scent, sort of a baby powder smell to me. This one is a little thicker and takes more to get into the skin, but that is what we need for our feet – especially my dry heels!

So with all these different types of lotions, sometimes it can get a little tricky on which one you need to use. Curel has solved that by offering the Curel Skin Advisor. Just answer some questions about what your needs are and your current skin condition and you get answers right away!

I worked closely with Curel to develop a series of questions that recreate the experience of visiting the dermatologist’s office. When users answer the questions provided, the Skin Advisor generates a customized analysis of their skin concerns as well as lifestyle tips and Curel product recommendations to treat those concerns. The advisor is very detailed, asking questions about skin type and very specific questions about symptoms people experience, just like I ask my own patients. The analysis generated is also very detailed and gives very useful tips and recommendations for people to start treating their skin. There is also a helpful allergen guide that people can navigate if they suspect they may be allergic to something they are coming into contact with. It actually can help target a specific ingredient that they can look for on product labels.
