Do you like the flavor of Buffalo chicken wings but not the mess? Or maybe you are like me and don’t actually like chicken wings (I prefer white meat chicken)? Shake ‘N Bake has a new flavor – Shake ‘N Bake Crispy Buffalo Seasoned Coating Mix to give your chicken a Shakeover!
I used the Shake ‘N Bake Crispy Buffalo on chicken legs and boneless, skinless chicken breasts since I’m not a wing fan. Hubby and Taylor love Buffalo wings though so I thought this might be something we would all enjoy. I followed the directions on the box and didn’t add anything extra to the coating mix (gasp! I know). Just moisten with water, shake, and bake. That is what I love about Shake ‘N Bake – super easy. We served it with Kraft Ranch Dressing to dip the chicken into. Everyone gave this a thumbs up, however the “Buffalo” flavor really doesn’t hit until the end of the bite. It is not overly spicy at all – instructions say you can dip in hot sauce before shaking in the coating to add extra kick though. You could also just shake on some drops of Tabasco sauce or Cholula sauce on top if you like it extra spicy. Now the crispy part I always struggle with on Shake ‘N Bake, I think it’s just me LOL – maybe they are too wet or maybe I need to cook them on racks over pans, not sure – but the crispiness eluded me once again except for a little on the tops of a few pieces. Overall they aren’t really a substitute for a traditional Buffalo wing – but a similar taste that is probably more appealing to the entire family.
I served these with roasted potato wedges. Just wedge your baking potatoes (brown) and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle with canola oil (or veg, olive oil, etc), then sprinkle with sea salt, fresh black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Toss all to coat evenly and then arrange in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake at 400° F for 20 minutes, flip over, sprinkle with Kraft Parmesan Cheese, and bake another 20 minutes. These are great dipped in the Kraft Ranch dressing also. You can omit any of the spices you want or add your own favorites – I change these up based on other foods we are having.
Kraft sent along to me some fun ideas for a football party – but you all know I’m not a sports fan really. We decided that it would be fun to go to a football party and cheer randomly when nothing is going on in the game to mess with the sports people watching or do other silly things like that. You have to understand that here in St. Louis it is ALL about the sports – very hard to get away from it, so when you aren’t a sports fan it can drive you a little batty. It is still fun though to get together with folks as long as there are others who aren’t too serious about the event also. Of course, there is always Twitter on my iPhone!
