Lately I have been dealing with dry lips a lot – it makes me crazy! I used to only need a little something on my lips in very dry winter months, but now it seems like all the time. I’m wondering if it is hereditary because my mother always has 128 tubes of lip balm on/around her and puts it on all the time. Anyway, I’ve been trying some different products to help with varying degrees of success, but nothing that seems to be longer lasting. Then the folks at Aquaphor contacted me (they were at BlogHer but I honestly didn’t remember meeting with them – ack – but I’m glad they got in touch). One of the new products they have launched is Aquaphor Lip Repair and when the email mentioned that I perked right up. I received some samples of Aquaphor Lip Repair and Healing Ointments to try out and to share with all of you.

aquaphorI have to say that the Aquaphor Lip Repair does really seem to be helping my lips. Plus, I don’t have to apply it as much as I was with the other brands I have tried. It really is a very immediate soothing feeling when I put it on and while it feels moist, it isn’t overly thick like I thought it would be. The Lip Repair comes in a little tube that you squeeze to push some of the product out onto the slanted applicator tip. The suggested retail price is $4.49 which is honestly more than I would have paid on my own just looking at the shelf with all the choices, however I would continue to buy Aquaphor Lip Repair at this price now. It is different than other lip balms and has proven to me that it is worth a little more. It is made by Eucerin which should have clued me in from the start actually because when skin really needs help lots of folks I know turn to Eucerin.

Ok, a few tid bits of useful information for all of my gimme-the-facts-ma’am-readers (you know who you are LOL).

  • Just for fun – I love that the fact ship states “Aquaphor, the ‘duct tape of dermatology’”! Too funny, but very true!
  • Clinically proven to soothe and protect against dry, chapped, cracked or irritated lips (I agree based on my trial of it!)
  • Appropriate for sensitive lips
  • Fragrance-free, preservative-free, dye-free
  • Key ingredients include Shea butter, glycerin, castor seed oil, vitamins C and E, panthanol, and bisabolol
  • Aquaphor Lip Repair should be available in October at Target, Kroger, RiteAid, and Harmons.

Aquaphor also has their Healing Ointment which is available in various shapes and sizes to best suit you. There are only seven ingredients in the Healing Ointment to minimize irritation and increase efficacy. Petroleum to protect skin, mineral oil, lanolin alcohol and glycerin to moisturize, panthenol to condition and bisabolol (chamomile essence) to sooth. I love that there are a bazillion uses it seems for this product! Oh and by the way, I have a friend who swears by Aquaphor Healing Ointment to care for their tattoos (I’m thinking of getting one, maybe). There is also a new line of Baby Aquaphor – while I don’t have a baby (I need one of those too LOL), I would trust trying this brand out on my baby if I did have one based on the other products I’ve used. You can find out more about the entire Aquaphor line on
