Yes, that is my being cutesy with the title, it is really just a review of some shampoos. You know you laughed, or at least rolled your eyes. Admit it.

So, I’m not tied to any single shampoo and conditioner. I get different samples or I try things that are on sale or have a coupon for. Some I like, some I do not. Here is a quick review of the past three I have tried. For reference I have medium length hair, brown naturally, but I dye it an auburn-brown usually. It has it’s own naturally screwy wave texture and is thinning the older I get. Oh, and I also have, ugh, gray hair, that I’m always trying to cover.

Fekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo and ConditionerFekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner

I used the full bottles of both the shampoo and conditioner on this and have been really pleased with it. This is the first time I have really noticed a product made for color treated hair that actually seems to have helped my color stay nice and not wash out quickly. The conditioner is not heavy at all, just a nice amount of conditioning to make it soft and manageable and not weigh it down. This is a lot more expensive than I normally would spend though, $25 for the 8oz shampoo and another $25 for the 8oz conditioner. If you spend that much on products I think it is well worth it.

Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner

Suave Scalp Solutions Anti-Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner

I do get a bit of dandruff from time to time and so I’ve been trying out this new item from Suave that they sent to me. Years ago I tried Head & Shoulders for a bit and I really hated the texture it gave my hair and the scent. I was afraid this would be similar, but I was happily surprised. It has pyrithione zinc for the dandruff part which helps fight the flakes. The shampoo left no odd residue on my hair and it did clear up my flakes. The conditioner was also a good weight. The scent of this is very light – men would easily be able to use this without feeling it was too much scent. It is a very light coconut scent. We use different types of Suave shampoo often as I like the price, just a couple of dollars a bottle at most.

L’Oreal EverStrong Shampoo and Conditioner – Sulfate Free, Body variety

L’Oreal EverStrong Shampoo and Conditioner – Sulfate Free

I see a lot of things about sulfate-free shampoos lately and so I thought I would try a more reasonably priced one. I believe these were each $7 or $8 per bottle. Sadly, I was disappointed. It did not feel like my hair was clean with this at all and left an odd texture to it. Admittedly, I only used it 3 days though. Maybe it changes the longer you use it? I’m not sure though because on their site it claims my hair would feel stronger after just one wash – it did not. A friend of mine mentioned that she uses this brand though and likes it.

Do you have a favorite shampoo and conditioner that you use or are you playing the field like I do them?

Disclosure: I received free samples of the Fekkai and Suave items mentioned. The L’Oreal I purchased myself. Regardless, my opinions are my own and not influenced either way.
