JAWBONE Mini Jambox

We listen to music a lot in our home. Hubby is a musician (hobby) and I just enjoy music. However, we do not own a regular stereo anymore. It has been years since we had one actually. The music we listen to is in digital format now. I use Xbox Music and Hubby uses Google Music and YouTube for most of his music choices. When we want to hear the music out loud without the use of earbuds we use external Bluetooth speakers and our favorite right now is the Jawbone Mini Jambox (disclosure: I was gifted a Mini Jambox from Verizon, opinions are my own).

The Jawbone Mini Jambox works with Bluetooth devices including iOS, Android, and Windows Phones

The Mini Jambox works via just about any Bluetooth enabled device and you can actually use a wired connection as well. I use it with my Windows Phone, a Nokia Lumia 928, and Hubby uses it with his Android tablet, a Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab 2.

To use the Jambox you simply turn it on, press the pairing button and then make sure Bluetooth is turned on on your device and scan for devices. They will quickly find each other. The Mini Jambox is actually one of the easiest and fastest devices I have seen to pair. Once paired up when you play music on your device the sound comes out of the Jawbone speaker now. Super easy!

The retail price of the Jawbone Mini Jambox is $179. I know that may seem a little pricey, but the sound quality is amazing and Hubby and I both really feel it is worth the price. We have tried other brands of Bluetooth speakers at lower prices but the sound quality is just not the same in those. The Mini Jambox has a very rich tone at all levels of sound.

At just over 6” long and 2.25” tall it is a nice compact size. It weighs 9 ounces – a fairly heavy weight for something this small but it makes a difference. The Mini Jawbone is very sturdy (I’ve dropped mine even – don’t tell Hubby).

The controls are simplistic. On top the round button controls play, pause, rewind and forward, and the minus and plus signs control the volume level.

On the side, the top button is power, next is the pairing button, and the mini USB and audio jack are both here as well.

Did I mention you can also use this as a speaker phone? It is great when you have it paired with your smartphone as it will allow the music to be paused and a conversation to take place. If you make conference calls it has a fabulous sound also, far better than what your actual smartphone has. The top buttons are what you can use to control answering and ignoring incoming calls even.

Another fun feature is that you can get updates to the voice that is used when you turn on the Mini Jambox, have a call, and check battery life. The original is nice, but on the Jawbone website you can get several other options including a baseball theme, hero theme, mobster them, and several other different languages as well. You just plug in your device to your computer to install these optional audio files as well as get any firmware updates for the Mini Jawbone. There is also an app (for Android and iOS) that can help you with updates and such, but it is not required to use the device at all.

The Mini Jawbone is able to fill an entire room with music at a party easily. We also use it when we sit out on the patio to enjoy music when the weather is nice. Hubby uses a different brand speaker at work, but he is going to get another Jawbone Mini Jambox to replace it because he likes this one so much more.

You can purchase Jawbone Mini Jambox from Verizon and several other retailers. It comes in several color choices as well.

For anyone who enjoys music this would be a fabulous holiday gift. Who on your list would enjoy a Jawbone Mini Jambox?
