While some of us are experiencing a gentle warm up, most of us are still chilly and so for this week’s cocktails I’m sharing some of illy’s St. Patrick’s Day coffee drink recipes. Something for everyone today too – some with alcohol and some without. If you are not a coffee fan, check out last week’s St. Patrick’s Day Cocktails post.

illy's Irish Coffee Recipe illy’s Irish Coffee

  • 1.5 ounces Irish whiskey
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 2 ounces heavy cream
  • coffee beans and cocoa powder

In a steaming pitcher add the Irish whiskey and the sugar. Heat with steam wand on the espresso machine for a few seconds. Pour into your serving glass. Add the espresso to the serving glass and gently stir. Whip the heavy cream lightly so that it is still liquid. Starting at the edge of the glass slowly pour/float the heavy cream on the top of the coffee. Garnish with coffee beans and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Lavender Mint Latte RecipeLavender Mint Latte

  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 5 ounces cold whole milk
  • 3/4 ounce lavender syrup
  • 2/3 ounce peppermint syrup
  • mint leaf

Add prepared espresso to serving glass. In a steaming pitcher add cold milk, lavender syrup, and peppermint syrup. Steam and froth. Pour milk over the coffee, holding back the froth part until the glass is about an inch from the top and then top with the froth. Garnish with a mint leaf.

Espresso Cremosa Cocktail with Irish Cream

  • 1 ounce espresso
  • 1.5 ounces vodka
  • .5 ounce coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce Irish cream
  • heavy cream

Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add the espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, and Irish cream. Shake vigorously several times. Strain into a cocktail glass. Starting at the edge of the glass slowly pour/float the heavy cream on top.

  • 2 ounces espresso
  • 1 ounce chocolate sauce
  • 8 ounces cold milk
  • 2/3 ounce peppermint syrup
  • 3 ounces heavy cream
  • cocoa powder and/or fresh mint leaves

Pour espresso into a serving glass. In a steaming pitcher add chocolate sauce and milk. Steam with steam wand and then pour into serving glass holding back any froth. In small bowl mix peppermint syrup and heavy cream. Whip lightly, maintaining liquid form. Starting at the edge of the glass slowly pour/float the peppermint cream on top of the coffee. Garnish with dusting of cocoa powder or fresh mint leaves.
