This Honey Parmesan Pork Roast is so delicious! I just made this for dinner tonight and it had wonderful flavor. When I first found this recipe online I thought it might be too sweet, but I took a chance because of all of the Parmesan cheese in it. Good thing I did! The Honey Parmesan coating and subsequent sauce does have a slight sweetness, but the saltiness of the Parmesan cheese balances it out nicely. My only problem was that it came out a tad dry but that is because I used a pretty small roast and had it in a little too long on high – not the recipes fault at all – cook’s error. The sauce helped though and it is still a make again recipe for us.
I love good recipes I can make in the slow cooker (I call it a Crockpot usually still). Today I knew I would be busy in the late afternoon and probably would not get home until after Hubby did, so it was the perfect day for a recipe like this. I threw in the ingredients earlier in the day and then when I got home it did not take long to get the meal on the table.
Put your pork loin roast into the slow cooker. Then in a bowl you combine the honey, Parmesan cheese, and your other spices. You really need to use shredded Parmesan cheese for this, not grated. And please do not use Kraft Parmesan (the green can) for this recipe – it really makes a big difference. Spoon this onto the top of the roast and press it in a little. Put the lid on and walk away. How long you cook it will depend on the size of your roast and if you use low or high. For a small roast, 4 hours on low would be fine. If you do use a larger roast you might want to increase the amounts of the honey and cheese mixture to cover the larger piece of meat.
You can see what a nice crust the cheese and spices form on the top of the pork roast. It held on really well even during slicing. With the remaining juices in the slow cooker I made a sauce to pour over the top. You can make it as thin or as thick as you like by adding more or less cornstarch.
The Honey Parmesan Pork Roast went very well with mashed potatoes and some broccoli with garlic and a little more of the Parmesan sprinkled on top. The sauce was perfect over the roast pork and the mashed potatoes. You can serve the pork roast with any side dishes you like though.
Doesn’t this look delicious?
I adapted my recipe slightly from the Taste of Home original recipe. I use raw honey, that’s my preference, but you can use regular honey without any problems. If you do not use soy sauce I would add a bit of salt to the mixture and maybe just a little olive oil to help things all stick together. Just like most slow cooker recipes, it is not set in stone. Adapt the recipe to fit the needs of your family.
