TUTORIAL: How to Pin a Tweet to the Top of Your Twitter Profile Page

Twitter has some really useful tools that you can use including the ability to pin a particular Tweet to the top of your profile page. This is a great way to highlight a special photo, blog post, event, offer, or anything you like. While I use this tool as part of my business in social media and as a blogger, you can do it for personal Twitter use as well. You can only pin your own Tweets, not Tweets from others. The process is very easy to do.

Step 1
Go to your Twitter profile page which will be twitter.com/YourUserName. The screenshot shows my page, @RobynsWorld, and you can see that I actually already have a pinned Tweet on my page. I’ve circled and pointed to this indication for you.

Step 2
Select the Tweet that you want to pin to the top of your profile page. I want to pin this Tweet about my tablet giveaway here on my blog. Underneath your selected Tweet click on the ellipsis (the three dots) and a menu will pop down. Now select “Pin to your profile page” from that menu.

Step 3
Confirm that you want to pin this Tweet in the popup box that appears.

Step 4
Once you have pressed “Pin” you will see a confirmation at the top of your profile page as I’ve circled below. The pinned Tweet will not be on top yet on your screen, but if you click “View now” in that confirmation it will refresh your profile page and you can see the pinned Tweet.

Here you can see my profile page was replaced and now my Tweet about the tablet giveaway has been pinned to the top above all of my other tweets. It will stay there until I unpin it or replace it with another pinned Tweet. Any Tweets you make after you pin something will appear in order after the pinned Tweet.

Step 5
If at anytime you want to unpin the Tweet simply click on the ellipsis again and now select “Unpin from profile page”. It will remove the pinned Tweet and go back to showing your most recent Tweet at the top of your profile page. If you want to simply replace your pinned Tweet with another one just start at Step 1 above again.
