While I was at the dentist today we were talking about the latest devices. The dental assistant uses a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and I was telling her about how great it is that Microsoft now offers great apps for their services to work on Android devices. She did not know about these and was happily surprised by this news. So today I wanted to share the same news with the rest of you.
Disclosure: I am a Microsoft Blogger, Verizon #VZWBuzz Lifestyle Ambassador and a Samsung Ambassador and receive devices and perks as a part of this. Opinions are totally my own.
Most of you know I am totally a Microsoft fan girl. I do love the Microsoft smartphones in many ways also, but I also am a Samsung fan girl. For a while now I’ve been saying that I wanted a Samsung Note style of phone but running Windows. I don’t have exactly that – but the mix I have now of using a Verizon Samsung Note and Microsoft apps with it is a great thing!
Microsoft Apps for Android I Use on my Samsung Note Smartphone
- Microsoft Outlook for Android
I love Outlook for my email, calendar, and contacts. I can easily use this Microsoft app on my Android phone to stay in touch no matter where I am. It is my most often used app actually.
- Microsoft Word for Android
For the longest time you could not use Word and other Office apps on Android but now you can! I know there are Google Docs also, but honestly it is still not on par with Word in my book.
- OneDrive for Android
This is my default cloud services and I put everything in OneDrive! I can then access all of my files, documents, photos, videos, and such on my phone, tablet, laptop, desktop, or from any connected devices anywhere in the world.
- Microsoft Excel for Android
Another commonly used Office product. Create spreadsheets and charts on the go, modify and view existing ones.
- Microsoft PowerPoint for Android
I create and view a lot of reports and presentations with PowerPoint so this is awesome to have with me at all times.
- OneNote for Android
This is the ultimate note taking app I think. Think of it like a 3-ring binder but in app form. You can create different binders, sections, and pages within it.
- Microsoft Account Authenticator for Android
This is a security type of app. If you need to verify your identity for your Microsoft account on your Android devices, this app does it quickly and easily.
- Microsoft Groove for Android
This is my go-to music service (formerly called Xbox Music). I can now have all of my playlists and subscriptions on my Samsung Note smartphone as well as all of my Windows devices.
- Microsoft Health for Android
I use a Microsoft Band for a fitness tracker and you can easily use the app for it on your Android devices too!
- Skype for Android
Skype is not just for your laptop or computer. You can use it on your smartphone too. You can instant message, make voice calls, and video calls for free on Skype.
- Skype Qik for Android
This is the newest offering from Skype. Qik is a free video messenger for sharing quick little videos privately during the day. The videos stay for just 2 weeks.
There are actually even more Microsoft apps for Android available as well in the Google Play store. I’ve just listed the ones I use on a regular basis for my needs.
Do you use any of these apps already? Which are your favorites? Which are new to you?
