October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month so that is the topic of this week’s infographic. Domestic violence is never okay. If you are a victim, get help. If you are an abuser, get help. If you know someone who is being abused or an abuser, help them get help.

Domestic abuse is not just when a man hits a woman. That is what most of us think about when we hear the term, but it can happen in so many different ways and to any person, male or female, adult or child. Emotional abuse is a huge part of domestic violence as well. We all have to understand that we do not deserve to be abused.

Please take a moment to read this important infographic today to get a better understanding of the forms of domestic violence and how it impacts the victim, children, and society as a whole.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

If you or someone you know is in an abusive relationship, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline by dialing 1-800-799-SAFE or #HOPE from your Verizon Wireless phone.

Below the infographic I am also including some information about Verizon’s HopeLine which helps with domestic abuse prevention in the form of grants to organizations. You all know that I have worked with Verizon for many years and their HopeLine initiative is one of the things I really love about them. You can get involved easily as well with HopeLine to help everyone.

Verizon’s HopeLine works in many ways. There are two easy ways you can support them.

First you can donate any old phones and devices, working or not, from any wireless carrier. There are collection boxes at all Verizon stores or you can print out a postage paid mailer and drop them in the mailbox to be sent to HopeLine. If you want to get more involved considering hosting a phone drive at your work, school, or any other place you like. Verizon has a toolkit available online for those wishing to host a drive.

Another way you can get involved is by purchasing any of the special HopeLine accessories from Verizon that are all in the special purple color. Purchases of these special accessories trigger an extra donation and you show your support of ending domestic violence by using these items and bringing awareness to the issue. There are currently five different accessories in this line available.
