My hair just keeps getting thinner and thinner as I get older and older. I shouldn’t be surprised by this, my mom has thinning hair and her mom had thinning hair as well. It seems that I have inherited this trait from that side of the family. My dad and his dad, grandpa, also had thinning/receding hair but I’m not sure how much of that impacts my own hair as a woman.
There are lots of reasons for hair loss in women, but today I’m focusing on hereditary hair loss. Last week I started using Women’s ROGAINE® thanks to them and Clever Girls Collective. They have sent me a 4 month supply plus I am being compensated for sharing my story about the use of it here on my blog with all of you.
Robyn’s 80’s Hair
I was a teen in the 1980’s, as you can see from the photos above! That meant BIG HAIR! We teased, permed, pouffed, sprayed, and did anything we could to make our hair BIG. Back then though I also had lots of thick wonderful hair so it was not really that hard to have big hair as long as you had enough hair spray. Now I’m 46 and I totally can see the difference in my hair and it is sooooo much thinner. While I still try to style my hair to make it look BIG, it is hard to do when it is thinning as I age.
Robyn’s Grandma Hair
You can see a huge difference in the thickness of my hair in the 80’s until now in my 40’s! ACK! Let’s get some of that fullness back! Just because I am a grandma now doesn’t mean I must have what “old lady” hair used to be like. You can see below how thin my hair has actually gotten on top of my head. Making it big and brushing it over on top isn’t fooling anyone these days of how thin it is actually getting.
Robyn’s Thinning Hair
So, when I was presented the opportunity to try Women’s ROGAINE® I had to give it a try. I truly miss my thick hair and am hoping that this will help me get some of the thickness and fullness back that I once had. I know it will never be like it was when I was a teenager in the 80’s, but it can hopefully be better than its current state of thinness. The Women’s ROGAINE® is in a small can and comes out like a foam (think hair mousse). You only use a small amount – no more than a half of a cap full – with each daily treatment.
Applying Women’s ROGAINE®
Just part your hair in the center and use your finger to apply the foam right to your scalp. Then you part your hair a bit over from center on each side and apply some to scalp there as well. Super easy. I can use all my other hair products just as usual too.
So now I apply daily and wait. It will take at least 12 weeks for me to see a difference. I will be sharing after photos with you also!
Do you have thinning hair? What do you do, if anything, to try to make it regrow or to appear thicker and fuller?
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
