My family and I were invited to try out the new Wood Fired Grill Salads at Applebee’s. For those of you that don’t know, Applebee’s is a casual restaurant with an every changing menu of foods for the entire family. The other night myself, Hubby, DIL and the twin babies visited our local Applebee’s to try out some of the new menu items (disclosure – I was provided a gift card for this visit, opinions are my own). My DIL, Caitlan, and I both ordered some of the new Wood Fired Grill Salads and Hubby opted for a wood fired grilled steak meal. The twins, of course being only 4 months old, did not order anything for themselves LOL.
Wood Fired Grilled Chicken, Avocado and Grapefruit Salad
Caitlan opted for this grilled chicken salad. It had wood fired grilled chicken, some slices of avocado and some grapefruit supremes along with traditional lettuce and other salad toppings. The combination of flavors was very nice and the quality is what she expected at Applebee’s.
Wood Fired Southwestern Steak Salad
This was my personal choice to try out from the menu of Wood Fired Salads at Applebee’s. I always love a good steak salad in the summer. It is still light being a salad, but gives you some of that protein you want for a dinner meal at the same time. I thought the steak was wood fired nicely and had chimichurri sauce (although I would have liked a bit more of that) and I liked that it had a fresh wedge of lime, some crispy tortilla strips and a creamy cilantro ranch dressing. I would order this again on future visits to Applebee’s.
Hubby opted for a wood fired steak instead of a salad for dinner on this visit. He got a sirloin steak with baked potato and garlicky green beans, plus extra butter and sour cream for his potato (ugh – I keep trying to get him to stop doing that). The steak was cooked a bit over what he asked for, but still had a good flavor.
We also ordered an appetizer for the table, we opted for the Spinach and Artichoke Dip with chips and salsa. It’s a decent dip, although a bit heavy on the spinach, but still very enjoyable. I like that they include salsa also so you can alternate between the two as you eat.
Again, thanks to Applebee’s for inviting my family and I to try out the new Wood Fired Salad menu. They also are providing a $50 Applebee’s gift certificate for me to give away to one of my lucky readers so you can try the new menu too. Thank’s Applebee’s!
