Christmas lights are one of my very favorite thing about the holidays. There are lots of holiday light displays all around St. Louis for you and the family to check out.

  • Anheuser Busch Brewery Lights
    Where: AB Brewery, 1200 Lynch Street
    When: Nov 16-Dec 30, Thursdays-Sundays, 5-10pm
    Cost: Free

    The walking tours are free and open to all ages. If you are over 21 you will get a wristband for 5 samples (5 ounces each) of your favorite beers. There are food options available for purchase in the s’mores station and the food buffet. There is also an ice skating rink with skate rentals available. They also have several packages available for purchases, details on the website.
  • Candlelight Christmas Walk
    Where: Augusta, MO
    When: December 1 and 8, 5:00pm
    Cost: Free

    Over 1000 luminaries light the way as you wander through historic Augusta. There is also a free antique trolley and a fun scavenger hunt with prizes.
  • Celebration of Lights
    Where: Fort Zumwalt Park, O’Fallon, MO
    When: Nov 24-Dec 30, except Dec 11, 12, 25; closed to vehicle traffic on Mondays
    Cost: $10 cars, $15 commercial vehicles, $1/person on tour buses

    Both walking and driving available thru the display. They also offer carriage, train and sleigh rides.
  • Faust Park Step Through the Past
    Where: Faust Park, Chesterfield, MO
    When: December 9, 5-9pm
    Cost: $5-$12 cash only at gate

    Experience the holidays of the past from the 1860s, during the Civil War, and up to the 1960s. Explore the customs of the holidays of the past in this self-guided stroll.
  • Magic of Lights
    Where: Gateway Motorsports Park, Madison, IL
    When: Nov 17-Jan 1, dusk to 10pm
    Cost: $20-$45 per vehicle, depending on time of purchase and options

  • Maplewood Christmas Tree Walk
    Where: Maplewood, MO
    When: December 1, 6-9pm
    Cost: free

    Celebrate the grand tree lighting in the center of town. Enjoy carriage rides ($5) and sip hot chocolate while strolling thru the merchant open houses. Complimentary refreshments and special discounts for the evening.
  • Missouri Botanical Gardens Garden Glow
    Where: Missouri Botanical Gardens
    When: Nov 18-Jan 1, closed Christmas Eve and Day
    Cost: $3-$18

    The gardens are transformed into a winter wonderland during the holidays. Ticket price includes the indoor Gardenland Express Holiday Flower and Train Show.
  • Saint Charles Christmas Traditions
    Where: Historic Main Street, St. Charles, MO
    When: Various days/times starting Nov 24
    Cost: Free

    This happens to be by own city and the Christmas Traditions events throughout the holiday are a lot of fun. This is not a modern lighting event but instead a nod to the past. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30pm they have the Evening Candlelight Processionals ending with a carol sing-a-long. The Tree Lighting Ceremony is one of the kick-off events at 5pm on November 24.
  • Santa’s Magical Kingdom
    Where: Jellystone Park, Pacific, MO (out by Six Flags)
    When: Nov 17-Jan 7, 5:30-10:30 (11pm on Fri and Sat)
    Cost: $22 per family vehicle up to 8 people, $30 for large passenger vans and other vehicles. CASH ONLY

    This is a large display to drive thru. The cost is a bit high but it is a fun display. They also have train and wagon rides for certain dates but the cost is higher.
  • Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
    Where: Belleville, IL
    When: Nov 16-Dec 31. Mon-Thurs 5-9pm. Fri-Sun 5-10pm. Indoor activities open til 9pm only each night. On Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day there are only the outdoor lights.

    This display has been happening annually since 1970. There is an outdoor light display as well as an indoor section. They also have camel rides (paid) and a Christmas Tree Room (free) along with other activities.
  • Six Flags Holiday in the Park
    Where: Six Flags
    When: Nov 18-Jan 1, hours and days vary, check their calendar

  • Tilles Park Winter Wonderland
    Where: Tilles Park, St. Louis
    When: Nov 22-Dec 30, Sun-Fri 5:30-9:30, Sat only open for carriage rides
    Cost: $10 per family vehicle, cash only

    This is one of the most popular light displays in the area. The walking tour has already sold out. Horse drawn carriage rides still available (as of the date of this post).
  • Wentzville Holiday Night Lights
    Where: Wentzville Rotary Park
    When: Nov 24-Dec 30
    Cost: $8 per car up to 6 people, $1 per additional passenger

    Enjoy a one mile light display featuring large illuminated commercial scenes and tunnels of twinkling lights.
  • Zoo Wild Lights
    Where: St. Louis Zoo
    When: Select nights Nov 24-Dec 30, 5:30-8:30

    Enjoy an evening at the zoo strolling through the holiday lights and enjoying carolers, characters, fireside storytellers, the Woodland Workshop and other live events.
