Christmas Cookie Swap - Ideas and Tips | Robyns.World

Today I a sharing my Christmas Cookie Swap tips and ideas. Krusteaz provided me with several of their cookie mixes and a few other items. I’ve used Krusteaz boxed mixes before, but never the cookie mixes and I have to say they tasted great! Plus they are doing a giveaway where one of my lucky readers will win a selection of Krusteaz products as well.

Cookie swaps can be done any way you like. The basic idea is that everyone brings a large batch of a single type of cookie and everyone swaps them and gets a selection of cookies from everyone else. Keep it simple or mix it up and make your Christmas cookie swap just the way you want it.

To get started make sure you visit the Krusteaz Cookie Helper to find just the right cookies to make. Take the quiz first to be entered to win one of 10 $100 grocery store gift cards plus everyone gets a Krusteaz coupon!

Cookie Swap Tips and Ideas

  • Plan on 6 or 12 cookies per person per batch. So if you have a total of 6 guests they would each bring 36 or 72 cookies of the same kind.
  • Make sure you get a firm RSVP from everyone so each guest knows how many cookies to bring.
  • While the idea is for home baked cookies, don’t limit your guests that aren’t bakers. If they want to join in and bring store bought cookies, let them. The more the merrier!
  • Bake at your swap. Consider having a swap where everyone bakes their cookies at the event. Have each guest bring the ingredients to make their signature cookies and everyone helps to make all the cookies.
  • Decorating at the swap. Have some sugar cookies or gingerbread cookies that are plain and baked, use holiday cookie cutters, and provide icing and sprinkles for guests to decorate cookies at your event to take home.
  • Kids cookie swap. Don’t forget the kids if your friends have little ones. Invite them too and set out cookies and give each child a small bag and tell them how many cookies they can pick out from the selection to take home. If the adults are doing a more traditional cookie swap at the same time have other things for the kids to do. One idea is to have a craft project where kids can color in cookies printed out on paper or use construction paper and have them glue “decorations” onto paper cookies, etc.
  • Add another swap. In addition to the cookie swap add another swap. Examples would be clothing, jewelry, clothing, books, etc.

Krusteaz Cookie Mix Recipe Ideas

Aunt Judy’s Nutty Cookies

My Aunt Judy has been making these type of cookies for years and I always have loved them. I used the Krusteaz Triple Chocolate Chunk cookie mix as the base and followed the box instructions for mixing. Once you mix your dough get a spoonful and roll the dough ball into crushed pecans (or any other nut you like) and then bake as usual.

Fireball Cinnamon Snickerdoodles

For this batch I started with the Krusteaz Snickerdoodle cookie mix. I had to try something that used my favorite, Fireball Cinnamon Whisky and this seemed like the perfect cookie. Mix up the Snickerdoodles according to the package, reserving the cinnamon-sugar mix. Mix 1/2 cup of chopped pecans and the cinnamon-sugar mix (included in the Krusteaz mix) and 2 tablespoons of Fireball. Roll out the cookie dough and spread the nut mixture over the top, roll (long way), and chill for at least an hour. Then slice rounds off the chilled log and bake. Once cooled drizzle with icing made with 1 cup of powdered sugar and 3-4 tablespoons of Fireball.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies

This is a super simple addition to the Krusteaz Triple Chocolate Chunk cookie mix. Just mix up according to the package directions and then add in 1/2 cup of peanut butter chips. Bake as directed.

There are tons of other ideas on the Krusteaz website for all of their cookie mixes. Just pick your basic cookie mix and then browse the additions and other recipes for each mix.
