Grilled Beef Rack of Ribs and Country Barbecue Potatoes

Grilled Beef Rack of Ribs and Country Barbecue Potatoes

(Family Features) Firing up the grill is an American tradition. The farm families who produce the food so many people enjoy at backyard cookouts want to share some of their favorite grilling recipes, as well as an appreciation for how food gets from the farm to the table. Farmers like Amanda Folkens, from Iowa, Danell Kalcevic, from Colorado, and Nicole Small, from Kansas, have joined with more than 70 other farmer volunteers across the country in the CommonGround program as a way to talk with home cooks about how food is grown and raised. “On our farm, animal care is … Continue Reading →
Smithfield Balsamic Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Shallots and Mashed Potatoes

Smithfield Balsamic Pork Tenderloin with Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Shallots and Mashed Potatoes

We eat a lot of pork in our house and pork tenderloin is one of our very favorite things. Smithfield All Natural Pork was the base for this family favorite recipe for autumn today. You can find Smithfield All Natural Fresh Pork products, like the pork tenderloin, at Walmart. Disclosure: I was provided a gift card to purchase the products for this recipe as well as being compensated; recipe and opinions are my own.  If you do not have balsamic vinegar in your house you definitely need to pick that up as well, it is divine on just about everything! … Continue Reading →
Oven Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans, Mushrooms and Onions with Thyme and Garlic

Oven Roasted Potatoes, Green Beans, Mushrooms and Onions with Thyme and Garlic

I really love veggies! Tonight for dinner I combined lots of yummy vegetables and roasted them since it is still cool enough to have the oven on in the house. This savory mix of baby potatoes, fresh green beans, sliced mushroom, and onion are flavored with fresh thyme and garlic. Roasted veggies caramelize a bit and that brings out those pretty brown colors which are actually the natural sugars coming out. There is a sweet nuttiness about them that is such a comforting flavor. I hope you will give this recipe a try and let me know what you think. … Continue Reading →
Balsamic Rosemary Pork Roast and Potatoes

Balsamic Rosemary Pork Roast and Potatoes

Today I have got another great pork recipe for you and it uses two of my favorite ingredients, balsamic vinegar and rosemary. I prepped the food and Hubby cooked outside in his cast iron Dutch oven and a cast iron skillet, but you can easily make this indoors as well if you like. The finished pork is juicy and has an incredibly savor taste to it. In the potatoes I used much of the same ingredients and they complimented the pork nicely. Add any green vegetable you like to complete the meal.   Pat the pork loin roast dry … Continue Reading →
Sweet Potatoes in Orange Cups RECIPE

Sweet Potatoes in Orange Cups RECIPE

I have a wonderful Thanksgiving side dish recipe to share with you all. Sweet potatoes in orange cups. Originally I saw this done by Chef Sara Moulton on TV and I have seen it in several other websites these days too. This is my adaptation of the recipe. The best thing is that you can make this ahead of time – like the day before Thanksgiving even! Plus, it is always a huge hit with my family and I’ve been asked to bring it several times. I wish I had step by step photos for you today, but I will … Continue Reading →
Pork Tenderloin with Grilled Pineapple Salsa and Sweet Potatoes with Cilantro-Lime Vinaigrette

Pork Tenderloin with Grilled Pineapple Salsa and Sweet Potatoes with Cilantro-Lime Vinaigrette

This is one of our very favorite meals and we just had it the other day. It is the perfect summer dish with the spicy notes of the jalapeno peppers, the bite of the raw red onion, and the sweetness of the sunny grilled pineapple. Pork tenderloin is the perfect vehicle for the grilled pineapple salsa with its light flavor and texture. To compliment the main part of the dish I serve this with sweet potatoes that are grilled and have that touch of sweetness and drizzle those with a bit of a cilantro-lime vinaigrette to balance out the sweet. … Continue Reading →

Tangy Fried Potatoes Recipe

Tangy Fried Potatoes Recipe

We like potatoes at our house. When we grill we have some sort of potato dish usually that Hubby cooks out on the grill. This time I made them inside though because the big gas grill has died and he didn’t even enough room on the small Weber grill for potatoes too. Normally I just throw in this and that, but since I have been using the Nakano Rice Vinegars I had stumbled across a recipe for Tangy Fried Potatoes that I decided to try. This would be a great side dish if you are grilling this weekend for … Continue Reading →
Betty Crocker’s Instant Mashed Potatoes

Betty Crocker’s Instant Mashed Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are my favorite food, they have been for as long as I can remember. My Grandma H made the best mashed potatoes in the world. When I started dating Hubby I ate dinner at his parents house a lot and his mom makes some awesome mashed potatoes too. Once I was married I tried to make them but for some reason they always sucked – yes it’s true – just ask Hubby. This is a stock photo – but honestly I have made these hundreds of times and they really do look this good! Many years ago I … Continue Reading →
Memorial Day BBQ – Yum! and Packet Potatoes for the Grill Recipe

Memorial Day BBQ – Yum! and Packet Potatoes for the Grill Recipe

Hubby grilled today and it was divine, as usual. I really wish you all could taste his BBQ porksteaks. They are just incredible! I am not sure exactly what he does to them and he makes his own sauce. He said he is not sharing the recipe though LOL. As good as it all is, it was not the healthiest of meals. I told Hubby and T we would have to eat extra healthy the rest of the week to make up for this. It was so worth it though. The potatoes I can share with you though since I … Continue Reading →
