Sesame Street

Sesame Street

I was born in 1970 and that means I was a Sesame Street kid for sure! We didn’t have cable when I was a little girl (back in the day). You had ABC, CBS, NBC, a local channel (11 in St. Louis), and then there was channel 30 which never seem to come in right – it was on some different band or something, but for a kid – we had PBS. That was the home of Sesame Street and I loved watching it (along with Mr. Rogers, The Electric Company, etc). Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, and Mr. Hooper … Continue Reading →
Wordless Wednesday – A Photo Story by Taylor (age 8)

Wordless Wednesday – A Photo Story by Taylor (age 8)

Press the PLAY button on the player above (the triangle) and turn up your speakers! Today my Wordless Wednesday is actually a photo story I happened across this morning. It was done by Taylor when he was just 8 years old. It is so cute! It took me a bit of convincing of him to let me use this today since he is now 15. Continue Reading →
Only 2 entries? C’mon folks!

Only 2 entries? C’mon folks!

Last week I posted about a very cool new tool to edit your photos online. You can add all sorts of cool effects, overlays, images, text, etc. at BeFunky.com. Truly I enjoy using the site to enhance my pictures and Taylor is loving it as well. The nice folks over there are giving me a chance to giveaway away TWO 1-year PRO Memberships at BeFunky valued at $100 EACH! But you know what? So far only 2 people have entered! Now c’mon folks – I know it is a tiny bit more work to enter this one, but you will … Continue Reading →
Easy Homemade Banner Craft

Easy Homemade Banner Craft

July is a multi-birthday month in my family – my brother (8th), my dad (13th), my uncle Steve (17th) and my mom (28th). Grandma H’s birthday was in July as well. Since we have several July birthdays we celebrate all at one time and we decorate! I thought I would make my own banner instead of using the standard store bought banner again (my old one was falling apart). This was a super easy project to do and can be done for absolutely any event you wanted and with any colors you liked. You will see Glue Dots in my … Continue Reading →
Would You Pay To Be Trusted on Facebook?

Would You Pay To Be Trusted on Facebook?

A new tool is out to help “verify” friends on Facebook, mysafeFriend. The idea sounded interesting, so I went to the website to learn more. There are 5 levels of validation that it uses. The first level being that 5 people have to validate the user’s identity by verifying basic info like name, email, gender and photo. Each level requires a little more up through level 3. Then is where the kicker comes in. To reach level 4 you have to supply a credit card and are charged $3. Hmmm. The final level is 5 which cost $50. Umm sorry, … Continue Reading →
Free Mommy Cards from Kodak

Free Mommy Cards from Kodak

If you are a stay at home mom you don’t have a business card, but now there are “Mommy Cards”. I love this idea! It’s like a business card, but you can put a family pic or pic of your kids (whatever you like) on the front. Then on the back put all your contact info. This would have been so great for me when Taylor was younger for setting up play dates, giving to new neighbors, giving to teachers, etc. I know I was always jotting down a phone number for other families and I can’t tell you how … Continue Reading →

Meet Cookie!

Meet Cookie!

More check-ins at Petco Powered by Whrrl We went into Petco today to pick up just a couple of supplies for our pets, but look what we came home with. Another guinea pig! At our local Petco (and I’m sure others) they have an adoption center in the store for small animals like guinea pigs. Cookie’s previous owners apparently decided she was too much work. She looked so scared and pitiful in the tiny little cage she was in that Hubby, Taylor, and I decided we would rescue her and bring her home to live with us and our other … Continue Reading →
Plastic Silverware

Plastic Silverware

My family uses plastic flatware fairly often at gatherings. Usually the reason is that there are a lot of us and most folks (including me) only have so much everyday flatware that we use, at least that match. I have a full service for 8 of the flatware in this picture (yikes my flatware is getting really scratched up!) of that pattern, and I have almost a full service for 8 of another pattern. The pieces to the second pattern have disappeared over the years which is why I bought a newer set. Does your flatware grow legs and run … Continue Reading →
