Robyn’s St. Louis World

Robyn's St. Louis World

I have lived in the St. Louis, Missouri my entire life. My city definitely epitomizes Midwest life and I am proud to call myself a St. Louisian. While my blog covers things that can appeal to anyone around the country I do try to highlight things in my area regularly as well. Generally on Sunday’s I try to do a post about events and activities in the St. Louis metro area.

Be sure to check out all of my St. Louis posts.

One of the best things about St. Louis is the amount of free things we have to do here. I just assumed all cities were like this and it wasn’t until I started traveling more that I realized how special St. Louis is in this way.

St. Louis Zoo

The St. Louis Zoo is one of the best in the country and it is free! There are some parts of the zoo that are not free, but the cost are still minimal. I have such amazing memories of my Grandma taking me to the zoo as a little girl, then I took my own son, and now the grandbabies love the zoo too. The St. Louis Zoo has a petting zoo inside of it and there are several other petting zoos in St. Louis at other locations too.

The Gateway Arch (the photo at the top) is another great place to visit in St. Louis. It is a key landmark for our city. There is a museum underneath the Arch plus you can take a ride up to the top of the Arch even. Not free, but well worth the cost of tickets.

Feel like gambling a bit? We have several casinos in the St. Louis area. There are some downtown, some in the suburbs, and some across the river in Illinois – which is still part of the metro St. Louis area.

For sports fan, St. Louis is the town for you! While I am not a huge sports fan, I do try to cheer on the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and our St. Louis Blues hockey team. Almost any restaurant in our area that has TVs will have sports on also.

Forest Park is a major attraction in St. Louis. It is a huge park at 1,293 acres, that is 500 acres more than New York’s Central Park. It is the home of the St. Louis Zoo, Missouri History Museum, St. Louis Science Center, St. Louis Art Museum, Steinberg Skating Rink, Boathouse, The Muny and many other attractions. Along with these there are tons of paths to walk and hike, nature areas, and sports areas plus just regular park areas.

BBQ Joints in St. Louis, Missouri

Folks here in St. Louis love to eat too. Along with all the foodies of all types we do have a certain fondness for BBQ and have plenty of BBQ restaurants if you aren’t up to cooking on your own.
