Celebrate National Tequila Day on July 24 with These Cocktail Recipes

Have I got a great holiday for you this week! July 24 is National Tequila Day! Now there are, of course, plenty of margarita recipes you could use to celebrate National Tequila Day but I have some different drink recipes that use tequila. Thanks to Sparkling ICE for sharing these recipes today. Tequila is actually made from the blue agave plant and was first produced in the 16th century. The men who harvest the agave plants are known as jimadores and pass along their expertise from generation to generation. One other interesting fact (these were found on Wikipedia) is that … Continue Reading →
5 o’Clock Friday: World Whiskey Day

5 o’Clock Friday: World Whiskey Day

May 21 is World Whiskey Day! Yes! World Whiskey Day is a day to celebrate whiskey and the wonderful cocktails you can make with it! Today I have two great drinks to share that use Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Whiskey that will be perfect to toast the day! World Whisky Day is all about making whisky fun and enjoyable. It’s not about being exclusive or prescriptive. You can drink it however you enjoy it (ice, water, mixer – whatever works for you). The day is meant to be all inclusive and that means any kind of whisky/whiskey from anywhere in … Continue Reading →
5 o’Clock Friday Recipe: Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade

5 o’Clock Friday Recipe: Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade

This week’s 5 o’Clock Friday cocktail recipe had to be pink in honor of my new twin granddaughters! I’m going to toast to them with this Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade this weekend! This recipe uses Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore. Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine and is fabulous to put those bubbles into cocktails like this one. It is generally less expensive than Champagne. I prefer it over Champagne for most drinks I make. If you want a simpler version of this recipe you want to use the Prosecco and then you can also just use some pre-made lemonade and add the … Continue Reading →

5 o’Clock Friday: The Dealer’s Choice

5 o’Clock Friday: The Dealer’s Choice

My dad was here on Thanksgiving and so I made sure to have Seagram’s 7 and 7-Up on hand for him. That is his drink of choice. We were talking about other drinks though and one thing he mentioned was adding triple sec to the mix. I did a little search and found out this drink is called The Dealer’s Choice. So credit today to my dad for this week’s cocktail recipe which is super easy to make and just three common ingredients. Continue Reading →
5 o’Clock Friday: Holiday Whiskey Punch

5 o’Clock Friday: Holiday Whiskey Punch

The holidays are quickly approaching so we need some holiday cocktails! Today I have another great one from the folks at Jack Daniel’s – a Holiday Whiskey Punch. Not too many ingredients for this recipe either. If you don’t keep orange juice and cranberry juice on hand, you really should. They are fabulous mixers for so many drinks, like this one! Is this something you might serve during the holidays? Continue Reading →
5 o’Clock Friday: Captain Morgan Crannon Blast

5 o’Clock Friday: Captain Morgan Crannon Blast

Have you noticed those cannon ball looking bottles at the store recently? They are Captain Morgan Cannon Blast. I kept seeing it and was intrigued so I bought a bottle last week. Delicious! It tastes citrusy at first but then kind of finishes with a mild cinnamon flavor. If you are drinking it just as a shot, I prefer it cold. Taking a look at the Captain Morgan website I found this recipe for the Crannon Blast which would be perfect on Thanksgiving I think with the addition of the cranberry juice! Recipe and photo from Captain Morgan. Do you … Continue Reading →

5 o’Clock Friday Recipe: TUACAChata ‘N’ Java

So while I’m not a coffee drinker, I do like some of the coffee liqueurs that are out there and I know that there are lots of you who love anything coffee related.  While we are into autumn and cooler weather is coming, we still have lots of warmer days this time of year too. So for this week’s cocktail I am offering up this recipe from TUACA which is a blend of vanilla, distilled essences of Mediterranean citrus fruits and rich brandies. This cocktail also includes RumChata, one of my favorite things, coffee-flavored liqueur and a bit of soda … Continue Reading →
