Reality TV Recap

Reality TV Recap

The last two nights I have had an overload of reality TV it seems like. In the Monday Mingle this week we talked about guilty pleasures and I think that reality TV is really one of those things for me. Thank goodness for the DVR to record these shows for me though because I usually only watch TV later in the evening and I could never just watch these shows straight thru on live TV.  The dramatic……. pauses…… on…… these…… shows…… just…… kills…… me, ugh! Fast forward is totally my friend. On top of the pauses the fact that they … Continue Reading →

St. Louis: Circus Flora Oct 2 & 3 (plus ticket giveaway)

Looking for something fun to do with the family? I think the West By Mid-West Circus Flora Adventure on October 2 and 3 at the Staenberg Family Complex Gymnasium sounds interesting. Plus, tickets are only $12! That is a really great price for an event like this. Circus Flora is a one-ring, European-style circus and this is an all-new show. I haven’t ever been to a Circus Flora event myself so I’m going to see if Hubby and Taylor would like to go and see this one. Hubby will like that this is event is in Creve Coeur rather than … Continue Reading →
Crash Course on Summertime Entertaining

Crash Course on Summertime Entertaining

For most Americans, summer means packing up the cooler and firing up the grill for picnics and barbeques. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), it also can be prime time for cross contamination and food-borne illnesses. Plastic containers, wraps and bags can help keep your cookouts contaminant free. Best-selling cookbook author, Holly Clegg, knows how to keep things sweet and simple when it comes summer entertaining. She’s teamed up with the American Chemistry Council’s Plastics Make it PossibleSM campaign to offer helpful tips and recipes to make your summer entertaining a breeze. Here are a few examples: • … Continue Reading →
Plastic Silverware

Plastic Silverware

My family uses plastic flatware fairly often at gatherings. Usually the reason is that there are a lot of us and most folks (including me) only have so much everyday flatware that we use, at least that match. I have a full service for 8 of the flatware in this picture (yikes my flatware is getting really scratched up!) of that pattern, and I have almost a full service for 8 of another pattern. The pieces to the second pattern have disappeared over the years which is why I bought a newer set. Does your flatware grow legs and run … Continue Reading →
MUNCH Madness from Food Channel!

MUNCH Madness from Food Channel!

Honestly, I don’t give an iota about basketball. The “March Madness” junk drives me a bit crazy. Plus living in St. Louis doesn’t help either because this is one sports-crazy town. But wait! FoodChannel.com is having a MUNCH MADNESS Recipe Tournament. Now this I can get into. Go and select your favorites and see how you do! My pick to win the whole enchilada? The Sweet & Spicy Boneless Wings! What’s your pick? Continue Reading →
Olympic Ring Cocktails

Olympic Ring Cocktails

Even though I generally am not a sports fan, I do enjoy some of the winter Olympic events. Probably because I grew up in a sports kind of family and my parents always watched sports (and still do). Since I am not an athlete though, I can just sit back and relax on the couch watching it all, and since I am relaxing why not stay in the “spirit” with some Olympic themed cocktails! I love that these match the five Olympic ring colors! In case you didn’t know, the five Olympic rings represent the five participating continents, and were … Continue Reading →

Meatball Party Food Recipes

So apparently, there is some big football game or something happening this weekend. Lots of folks like to have parties for this game and serve a lot of food too. Hmmm, even though I am totally not a sports fan, the food part of it is appealing to me. Anyway, the folks at Mama Lucia sent me some recipes for some great party food using their meatballs that I thought I would share with you all. Enjoy! Meatball Pitas 1 package of Mama Lucia Italian Style Meatballs 8 small pita breads 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese 1 cup cubed feta … Continue Reading →
Hand-y Halloween Treat Project & Font

Hand-y Halloween Treat Project & Font

These are super simple and inexpensive Halloween treats to make. I learned how to make them from watching the adorable video from Frugal Upstate. She just used the one candy corn in the fingers, but I thought they needed more and used 3 pieces per finger. Another helpful tip is to smash the popcorn a little when you put the first handful or so in because the smaller pieces will be easier to get into the fingers. A blunt ended wooden skewer (or other skinny object) also helps get the popcorn into the fingers a bit better. I opted for … Continue Reading →
