T-Shirt and Underwear Basics

T-Shirt and Underwear Basics

While most have bought the kids new clothes for school this fall, one thing people often forget are the new underwear and t-shirts. The brand I buy for Hubby and T is Fruit of the Loom. They recently sent some free samples of boxers and t-shirts for T and that made him very happy! It made me happy too because you know us moms always say to wear clean underwear in case your in an accident! Right now you can find special packs of Fruit of the Loom items at really good prices. Stock up while you can save a … Continue Reading →
The History of the Bra [infographic]

The History of the Bra [infographic]

For this week’s infographic I stumbled upon this interesting one on the history of the bra. I have a love/hate relationship with bras – I find them necessary but I wish they were not. Maybe I was supposed to be around during the days of bra burning? The last entry on this infographic is so ridiculous – why on earth does that even need to be created? Crazy! What did you find most interesting on this week’s infographic about bras? Continue Reading →
The Pros and Cons of Wearing High Heels [infographic]

The Pros and Cons of Wearing High Heels [infographic]

Fashion Weeks are happening this time of year and high heels are a big part of all the runway shows. While I adore so many of the gorgeous shoes, I know I cannot wear the majority of them. Before I lost weight I only could wear flats, now days I can wear heels, but nothing too high. I bought a cute pair of booties with higher heels a while back but have yet to wear them out. Before I bought them I tried them on in the store but did not walk around – bad move! The look great but … Continue Reading →
2014 Emmy Awards: In Memoriam, Who Knew, and Red Carpet Looks

2014 Emmy Awards: In Memoriam, Who Knew, and Red Carpet Looks

Last night I caught bits and pieces of the Emmy Awards show. It is the one award show I actually seem to like the show part because I recognize more of the people since they are TV. Watching the awards for movies and music I feel a little lost, but the TV people seem more like friends. These folks seem to know how to have fun and keep entertaining us even when they are there to support their own work and peers. I love all the banter and funny bits they had throughout the show. The In Memoriam portion last … Continue Reading →
U|R Powered Touchscreen Gloves – Another Holiday Pick from Robyn

U|R Powered Touchscreen Gloves – Another Holiday Pick from Robyn

So you all know that I almost always have a smartphone, phablet, or tablet in my hands when I am on the go, right? In winter this becomes a slight problem because my regular stretchy knit gloves just slide on the screen and nothing happens. Because of that I have been trying out some of the latest gloves that claim to work on touchscreens. Happily I can report that I have found a winner! The U|R Powered Touchscreen Gloves (disclosure – I received a sample pair for review, opinions are my own) arrived in my mailbox yesterday and I absolutely … Continue Reading →
Yikes! That print from Paris?

Yikes! That print from Paris?

Have you been watching Project Runway All Stars this season? We are getting down to the end. This week the challenge was to create a couture gown and they sent the contestants to Paris where they got to pick out fabric to take back to New York to make their designs. None of the designs this week were really a favorite of mine, they just weren’t my style. However, Joshua’s was behind “not a favorite”, I thought it was U-G-L-Y! He went to Paris and the bright floral print is what he brought back! Are you kidding me? It isn’t … Continue Reading →
Wordless Wednesday – Hats

Wordless Wednesday – Hats

Hats were a theme this year it seems! Great Aunt Audrey rocked the cowboy hat she won in the white elephant game, my brother sported his new character hat and almost smiled, dad struggled with putting on his new hunting cap, and Hubby was apparently trying to convey an angry bird look combined with one of the guys from Duck Dynasty all at once. Continue Reading →
Project Runway Season 10 Winner

Project Runway Season 10 Winner

So did you watch the Project Runway finale the other night? Dmitry Sholokhov is the Project Runway Season 10 winner. He was not necessarily my favorite, but I think all the finalists this year were very talented. Of course, being a reality show my opinion is skewed a little by the personality of the contestants. Dmitry seemed a bit cold to me. Melissa Fleis had my favorite collection of designs in the finale plus she seemed very nice – she would have been my choice for the winner. Even though Fabio Costa’s designs are not my style at all, I … Continue Reading →
Project Runway Rockettes Week

Project Runway Rockettes Week

I really liked this week’s edition of Project Runway. We are talking Season 10, Episode 10 this week. The designers had to create a costume for the Rockettes. These more unique challenges show which of the contestants have a larger range I think. This week that proved very true as Ven Budhu was out. He has made some really pretty things, including winning the candy dress challenge, but without his origami rose type element he falls flat. His Rockettes costume was very boring and I was surprised that it was not made as well as he normally makes things. Ven was out … Continue Reading →
and this was NOT the loser

and this was NOT the loser

Are you all watching the new season of Project Runway? Last night was the candy challenge and the worst dress, in my opinion, was the one from Andrea. She didn’t even end up in the bottom three though – how did that happen?   Seriously? How is this fashion? She wanted to make an apron that someone working in an old fashioned candy store might wear – hence the hair also. I have no idea about the back – a bustle of some fabric? This was awful – Tim was right! The winner I did agree with though – Ven … Continue Reading →
